Honey Hoisin Marinated Chicken (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Protein

01 - 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs

→ Sauce & Marinade

02 - 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
03 - 2 tablespoons soy sauce
04 - 2 tablespoons honey
05 - 1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
06 - 1 tablespoon sesame oil
07 - 2 cloves garlic, minced

→ Seasonings

08 - 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
09 - 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
10 - Salt and pepper to taste

→ Garnishes

11 - Green onions, sliced
12 - Toasted sesame seeds

# Instructions:

01 - In a bowl, whisk together your hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice wine, sesame oil, minced garlic, five-spice powder, ginger, salt, and pepper until everything's well combined.
02 - Pop your chicken in a dish or zip-top bag and pour the marinade all over it. Make sure each piece is well coated, then cover and let it hang out in the fridge for at least 2 hours - overnight is even better if you've got the time.
03 - You've got options here! Fire up the grill and cook for 6-8 minutes per side, bake in a 400°F oven for 20-25 minutes, or pan-sear for 5-6 minutes per side until the chicken is cooked through and nicely caramelized.
04 - Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before slicing. Sprinkle with some sliced green onions and sesame seeds, then serve it up hot!

# Notes:

01 - You can substitute dry sherry for Chinese rice wine if needed.
02 - The longer you marinate, the more flavorful your chicken will be, but don't go beyond 24 hours.
