In a bowl, whisk together your hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, rice wine, sesame oil, minced garlic, five-spice powder, ginger, salt, and pepper until everything's well combined.

Pop your chicken in a dish or zip-top bag and pour the marinade all over it. Make sure each piece is well coated, then cover and let it hang out in the fridge for at least 2 hours - overnight is even better if you've got the time.

You've got options here! Fire up the grill and cook for 6-8 minutes per side, bake in a 400°F oven for 20-25 minutes, or pan-sear for 5-6 minutes per side until the chicken is cooked through and nicely caramelized.
