Mix ready made custard with chopped chocolate in a pan over low heat until smooth. Cool completely.

Beat double cream with icing sugar until soft peaks form.

Cut swiss roll into 1-2cm slices, sprinkle with kirsch if using.

Line trifle bowl with swiss roll slices on bottom and sides. Add half the chocolate custard, cherries, brownies, cream and jam.

Repeat layering process with remaining ingredients, finishing with whipped cream.

Top with fresh cherries and grated chocolate.

Refrigerate for one hour to set.
