Black Forest Trifle (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - 150g dark chocolate, chopped.
02 - 500ml ready made custard.
03 - 600ml double cream.
04 - 2 tablespoons icing sugar.
05 - 1 large chocolate swiss roll.
06 - 4-5 tablespoons kirsch (optional).
07 - 400-600g cherries in kirsch/syrup/pie filling.
08 - 200g fresh cherries.
09 - 200g cherry jam.
10 - 1 tub brownie bites.
11 - 25g grated chocolate.

# Instructions:

01 - Mix ready made custard with chopped chocolate in a pan over low heat until smooth. Cool completely.
02 - Beat double cream with icing sugar until soft peaks form.
03 - Cut swiss roll into 1-2cm slices, sprinkle with kirsch if using.
04 - Line trifle bowl with swiss roll slices on bottom and sides. Add half the chocolate custard, cherries, brownies, cream and jam.
05 - Repeat layering process with remaining ingredients, finishing with whipped cream.
06 - Top with fresh cherries and grated chocolate.
07 - Refrigerate for one hour to set.

# Notes:

01 - Can be made up to 3 days ahead but best fresh.
02 - Kirsch can be omitted for alcohol-free version.
03 - Adjust quantities based on trifle bowl size.
04 - Can use different types of cherries based on availability.
