Blackberry Balsamic Glaze (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Blackberry Glaze Base

01 - 1 cup balsamic vinegar
02 - 1 cup fresh blackberries
03 - ¼ cup maple syrup (optional)

→ Aromatics

04 - Fresh mint, basil leaves, or herb of choice (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Place balsamic vinegar, maple syrup (if using), herbs (if using), and blackberries in a small saucepan. Gently crush some of the berries with your fingers or the back of a spoon.
02 - Bring mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low immediately after boiling begins.
03 - Allow glaze to gently simmer, stirring occasionally, until it has reduced by ⅓ to ½ and coats the back of a spoon.
04 - Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly before straining.
05 - Pour glaze through a fine mesh strainer to separate the liquid from the berries and herbs.
06 - Place the separated berry mixture in a separate container to use as jam.
07 - Both the glaze and berry jam will thicken as they cool. Store in airtight containers in the refrigerator.

# Notes:

01 - The glaze makes an excellent addition to desserts, cheese plates, or as a savory finishing touch for meats.
02 - For a thicker consistency, allow the glaze to reduce further during simmering.
