Cheddar Bay Biscuits (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Biscuit Dough

01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 tablespoon sugar
03 - 1 tablespoon baking powder
04 - 2 teaspoons garlic powder
05 - ½ teaspoon kosher salt
06 - ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
07 - 1 cup buttermilk
08 - ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
09 - 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

→ Garlic Butter Topping

10 - 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
11 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley leaves
12 - ½ teaspoon garlic powder

# Instructions:

01 - Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
02 - In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, garlic powder, salt and cayenne pepper (if using).
03 - In a large glass measuring cup or separate bowl, whisk together buttermilk and melted butter. Pour this mixture over the dry ingredients and stir using a rubber spatula just until moist.
04 - Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed.
05 - On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough 3-4 times until it comes together. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a 1¼-inch thick rectangle. Cut out 10-12 rounds using a 2½-inch biscuit or cookie cutter.
06 - Place biscuits on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown.
07 - While biscuits are baking, whisk together melted butter, chopped parsley and garlic powder in a small bowl.
08 - Working one at a time, brush the tops of the hot biscuits with the garlic butter mixture.
09 - Serve biscuits immediately while still warm.

# Notes:

01 - These biscuits are best enjoyed fresh from the oven while still warm.
02 - For optimal rise, avoid overworking the dough when mixing and kneading.
