# Ingredients:

→ Main ingredients

01 - 3 tablespoons soy sauce
02 - 1 tablespoon unseasoned rice vinegar
03 - 1 teaspoon honey
04 - 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
05 - 2 teaspoons finely grated fresh ginger
06 - 1 teaspoon minced fresh garlic
07 - 2 ahi tuna steaks, about 1 pound
08 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
09 - Kosher salt to taste
10 - Freshly ground black pepper to taste
11 - Sesame seeds to taste
12 - Thinly sliced green onion to taste

# Instructions:

01 - In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, and honey until the honey dissolves. Whisk in sesame oil, ginger, and garlic until emulsified. Leave at room temperature or refrigerate if preferred.
02 - Preheat a gas grill or charcoal grill to high heat.
03 - Rinse tuna steaks and pat dry with paper towels. Rub all sides of tuna with olive oil, then season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
04 - Place tuna steaks on the grill and cook for 2 minutes per side until seared on the outside and rare inside. For a fully cooked center, grill an additional 2 minutes per side.
05 - Transfer grilled tuna to a cutting board. Using a thin, sharp knife, slice the tuna across the grain into 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick pieces. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onion.
06 - Serve sliced tuna steaks with prepared dipping sauce.

# Notes:

01 - Double the dipping sauce recipe to use half as a marinade for the tuna steaks for 20-30 minutes before grilling, if preferred.
02 - Brush grill grates with a high-heat neutral oil or vegetable oil before grilling to prevent sticking.
03 - Divide dipping sauce into small serving bowls, one for each person, if desired.
