Grinch Crinkle Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

01 - ½ cup sugar.
02 - ¼ cup light brown sugar.
03 - ½ cup unsalted butter, room temperature.
04 - 2 eggs, room temperature.
05 - 2 teaspoons almond extract.
06 - 1¾ cups all-purpose flour.
07 - 1 teaspoon baking powder.
08 - ½ teaspoon salt.
09 - Green food coloring.
10 - ¼ cup sugar (for coating).
11 - ½ cup powdered sugar (for coating).
12 - Red icing (optional).
13 - Red sprinkle hearts (optional).

# Instructions:

01 - Beat sugar and butter for 3 minutes until creamy. Add eggs one at a time and almond extract.
02 - Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to mixer. Add green food coloring to desired color.
03 - Cover dough and refrigerate for 2 hours.
04 - Preheat oven to 350°F. Move rack to higher level. Roll 1.5 tablespoons dough into balls.
05 - Roll balls in granulated sugar, then powdered sugar. Place 2 inches apart on lined sheet. Bake 10-13 minutes until crinkles form.

# Notes:

01 - High rack position creates crispy exterior, soft interior.
02 - Can use heart candies instead of icing.
03 - Dough can be chilled overnight.
