Hawaiian Garlic Shrimp (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
02 - 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
03 - 4 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 1 tablespoon olive oil
05 - 1/2 cup pineapple juice (preferably fresh)
06 - 1 tablespoon soy sauce
07 - 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
08 - 1 teaspoon ground ginger
09 - 1 tablespoon lime juice
10 - 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
11 - Salt and pepper to taste

→ Garnish

12 - Pineapple chunks (optional)
13 - Lime wedges (optional)
14 - Extra cilantro (optional)

# Instructions:

01 - Pat the peeled and deveined shrimp dry with paper towels. This helps them cook evenly and get a nice sear.
02 - In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the butter and let it melt completely, swirling the pan to coat the surface evenly.
03 - Add the minced garlic to the butter-oil mixture and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and just starting to turn golden. Be careful not to burn it.
04 - Pour in the pineapple juice, soy sauce, honey (or brown sugar), and ground ginger. Stir everything together and bring to a gentle simmer for 2-3 minutes to let the sauce thicken slightly.
05 - Add the lime juice, salt, and pepper to the sauce. Stir until well combined and adjust seasonings to taste.
06 - Add the shrimp to the skillet, arranging them in a single layer. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Don't overcook or they'll become tough.
07 - Once the shrimp are cooked, toss them in the sauce to coat thoroughly. Sprinkle the chopped cilantro over everything and give it a final toss. If desired, add pineapple chunks and lime wedges for extra tropical flavor.
08 - Serve immediately over steamed rice, noodles, or alongside a fresh salad for a complete meal.

# Notes:

01 - This dish is inspired by the famous garlic shrimp trucks found on Hawaii's North Shore.
02 - For best results, use the largest, freshest shrimp you can find.
03 - Fresh pineapple juice makes a noticeable difference in the flavor, but canned works in a pinch.
04 - The sauce is also delicious spooned over rice or used as a marinade for chicken.
