Preheat oven to 175°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, powdered sugar, and granulated sugar until pale and fluffy, about 3–5 minutes.

Blend in the orange zest and vanilla extract, mixing until evenly distributed.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture, mixing until a cohesive dough forms.

Portion the dough into balls approximately 2.5 cm in diameter. Place each ball onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each. Gently flatten each with the bottom of a glass or palm.

Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden while centers remain soft.

Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
