Start a large pot of salted water boiling for pasta. Cook penne according to package directions, but one minute less for al dente. Halfway through cooking, add the frozen peas to the same pot.

While pasta cooks, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add diced onions and bacon pieces, cooking until both are crispy but not burnt.

Drain the pasta and peas, then add them to the skillet with bacon and onions. Reduce heat to medium.

Pour in the heavy cream and stir everything well. Add more cream if needed for desired consistency. Serve right away while hot.
