Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.

Peel and cut apple into 8-10 wedges. Pat dry with paper towel.

Separate crescent dough into triangles. Roll each apple wedge in dough from wide end and seal edges. Place in dish.

Melt butter in saucepan over medium heat. Add sugar and cinnamon, whisk until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Pour sauce over dumplings. Pour 7-Up around edges of dish.

Bake 40-45 minutes until golden brown and sauce is bubbly.
