Rice Krispie Cheddar Crackers (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Dough Base

01 - 2 cups (approximately 240 g) sharp cheddar cheese, freshly shredded
02 - 2 cups (about 250 g) all-purpose flour
03 - 2 cups (about 56 g) puffed rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies)

→ Flavor Enhancers

04 - 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter
05 - 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
06 - 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
07 - 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
08 - 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

# Instructions:

01 - Set oven to 175°C (350°F). Line two baking trays with parchment paper or silicone mats.
02 - In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, puffed rice cereal, cayenne pepper, salt, and garlic powder until evenly distributed.
03 - Shred the sharp cheddar cheese using a box grater or food processor. Add the shredded cheese to the dry ingredients and mix to combine.
04 - Melt the unsalted butter until liquid but not hot. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce. Pour this mixture over the dry ingredients and cheese. Mix thoroughly using a spoon or by hand until cohesive dough forms.
05 - Transfer dough to a lightly floured surface. With a rolling pin, roll out dough to approximately 3 mm (1/8 inch) thickness.
06 - Cut dough into small squares or desired shapes using a sharp knife, pizza cutter, or cookie cutter. For even sizes, measure cuts with a ruler if preferred.
07 - Place shaped dough on prepared baking trays in a single layer, leaving space between each. Bake in the centre of the oven for 10–12 minutes, or until crackers are uniformly golden brown.
08 - Allow crackers to cool on the baking trays for several minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool fully. Crackers will develop additional crispness as they cool.
09 - Enjoy crackers on their own, with dips, or as part of a cheese board.

01 - Use freshly shredded cheddar for optimal flavor and texture; pre-shredded varieties contain anti-caking agents that affect the final result.
02 - For extra crispy crackers, roll the dough thinner, but monitor baking time closely to prevent burning.
