Sumac Onions with Parsley (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Main

01 - 1 large red onion, thinly sliced
02 - 2 teaspoons sumac
03 - 0.5 teaspoon salt
04 - 1 tablespoon red wine vinegar or lemon juice
05 - 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
06 - 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped

# Instructions:

01 - Combine sliced red onion, sumac, and salt in a medium bowl. Gently massage the mixture by hand for 30 to 60 seconds until the onions begin to soften.
02 - Incorporate red wine vinegar or lemon juice, olive oil, and chopped parsley. Mix thoroughly until the onions are evenly coated.
03 - Cover and allow the onions to marinate for at least 20 minutes before serving for optimal flavour. Serve alongside mains or use as a vibrant topping for burgers, sandwiches, wraps, or salads.

# Notes:

01 - For best results, thinly slice the onion using a sharp chef's knife or mandoline. Marinating longer enhances the tangy flavour and tender texture.
