Zesty Cajun Fish Soup (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Seafood

01 - 450g white fish fillets (cod or tilapia), cut into chunks

→ Produce

02 - 1 medium onion, diced
03 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
04 - 1 green bell pepper, diced
05 - 1 celery stalk, sliced
06 - 1 cup diced tomatoes (canned or fresh)
07 - Fresh parsley or green onions, chopped (for garnish)

→ Pantry

08 - 1 tbsp olive oil
09 - 4 cups fish or vegetable broth
10 - 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
11 - 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
12 - 1/2 tsp salt
13 - 1/4 tsp black pepper
14 - 1 cup cooked rice (optional, for serving)

# Instructions:

01 - Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, bell pepper, and celery, sautéing until softened, about 5 minutes.
02 - Stir in Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Pour in the diced tomatoes and broth, then bring to a gentle simmer.
03 - Add the fish chunks to the simmering broth. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
04 - Ladle the soup into bowls, optionally over a portion of cooked rice. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or green onions before serving.

# Notes:

01 - For a more authentic Cajun flavor, try adding a small amount of filé powder (ground sassafras leaves) just before serving.
02 - The soup develops deeper flavors if allowed to rest for 30 minutes before serving.
